is a family run Landscape Design & Landscape Construction company.  We provide Landscape Designs for our clients to build, or for our Spaces crew to build.  Daniel has designed well over 500 landscapes, & leads the crew on every landscape Spaces VT, llc installs.  

Using natural stone & the plants that thrive in your space, we create year-round splendor out of your kitchen window.  We help design privacy, beauty, color and a central Vermont style for small, cute yards in Montpelier or twenty five acre comprehensive master plans for landscapes throughout north-central Vermont.  Gardens, food plots & food forests, herb beds, & sacred spaces we understand, live with, & love.

Daniel has been in the landscape field his entire life.  Landscaping in the summers during college, he completed an Associates Degree in landscape design.  Daniel later obtained a Bachelor's Degree of Landscape Architecture from S.U.N.Y. College of Environment Science & Forestry in Syracuse, NY.  This is a five year bachelors degree with a semester abroad.  In Barcelona, Spain, Daniel studied pedestrian behavior in the urban environment- learning what creates comfortable outdoor spaces and launching his company name and love of design.

Sierra & Daniel met as river guides on the west coast on the Skykomish River.  Their first date was a two week trip, paddling down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon.  If you can survive that river as friends, you have the makings for a good team.  Our team continues to mature and thrive, with our grown children, Maia & Kellon leading the way with seed saving, herb wisdom, music playing, and ever ready with the shovel & a positive attitude.

Sierra started setting patio stones with Spaces, and quickly started teaching our crew the finer points of natural stone. We’ll joke about how it took seven years of school for Daniel, yet Sierra picked up our trade in seven weeks. Almost thirty years later,  Sierra still trains our crew in patio finesse, answers the phone, consults on designs, and helps run the new homestead in Walden, VT. Kellon is now our stone wall expert & Maia, a graduate from Wisdom of the Herbs & UVM, can identify and appreciate most native plants in our regions.   In fact, it was Sierra’s & the kiddo’s idea to move from our farm in WA to VT.

Our current farm, Four Directions Farm fills our time with growing food for our homestead & our community. Flowers, bird & bee habitats, herbs of both culinary & medicinal enjoyment, nut, fruit, & berry orchards, as well as music & cooking keeps us beautifully busy in between landscape projects.
